Mel’s Lament will be showing in Kenya this month as part of the 27th European Film Festival in Kenya.

According to the festival curator, Nyambura M. Waruingi, “The European Film Festival brings European cinema to a broad range of audiences in Kenya. This is a great opportunity for Kenyans to experience another Europe that they don’t often get to see.”

In addition to NT’s Mel’s Lament, the screening programme will include short films by the artists Beverley Bennett, Phoebe Boswell and Jay Bernard.

NT will be showing Mel’s Lament as part of the Philomela’s Chorus’ Short Film screening of films at the Encounters Film Festival this month. Along with Mel’s Lament 3 other films will be shown by the artists Beverley Bennett, Phoebe Boswell and Jay Bernard.

“This is not a show ‘about’ a coherent movement [but] instead presents works by British African diaspora artists outside of the usual [tired] framing”. So say the curators Paul Goodwin and Hansi Momodu-Gordon of their show UNTITLED: art on the conditions of our time, a major new touring exhibition produced in conjunction with New Art Exchange [NAE] which includes works by NT, and aims to show a “progressive stance on exhibition making.”

NT will be showing and performing Bring your Heels: More than a Woman pt.2, at the The Showroom, as part of Practice in Dialogue’s event We all have a problem with representation. We all have a problem with representation is an experimental evening of work-in-progress performances and video work interspersed with the opportunity for drinks and conversation.

As part of Jamaican Pulse, a landmark exhibition of Jamaican Art at the Royal West of England Academy [RWA], NT will be showing work. Featuring contemporary Jamaican and diaspora artists based in Jamaica, US and the UK - as well as Jamaican ‘masters’ such as Edna Manley, Everald Brown, Ras Dizzy, Albert Huie, and George Rodney - Jamaican Pulse is the first major exhibition of its kind ever to be held in the UK.

Many of the contemporary artists in the exhibition were featured in the recent Jamaica Biennale. with artwork from a number of public and private collections, including the Jamaican High Commission, London, and The National Gallery of Jamaica, Kingston.

Alongside the exhibition is a full schedule of events, with activities taking place on and off-site, including a satellite programme at The Bluecoat, Liverpool, and closing party at the Arnolfini.

Artists include: Barbara Walker, Ebony G. Patterson, Hurvin Anderson, Gerhard Hanson, Di-Andre Caprice Davies, Leasho Johnson, Laura Facey,  Storm Saulter, Camille Chedda, Shoshana Weinberger to name a few.
